- Self-custodial across Bitcoin, Liquid, and Lightning
- JAN3 (led by Samson Mow) is actively shipping; $5M seed round closed
Cons
- Lightning is not native — it's a swap to Liquid, which has its own trust assumptions and fees
- No Lightning Address support
- Multiple assets in one app can confuse Bitcoin-only users

Verdict
Bitcoin, Liquid, Lightning, and USDt wallet from JAN3 (Samson Mow). Lightning routes via Boltz swaps to Liquid under the hood. Use Aqua if you match one of the "best for" audiences and the custody model is acceptable for the amounts you'll handle. For larger balances, prefer a non-custodial option regardless of which is easier to set up.
FAQ
Is Aqua custodial or non-custodial? +
Aqua is non-custodial — keys live on your device. You control your sats, and you are responsible for backing up the seed phrase.
Does Aqua support Lightning Addresses? +
No. Aqua doesn't currently expose a Lightning Address. You can still receive payments via BOLT11 invoices and LNURL where supported.
